How to Get a Child with Autism to Wear Swimming Goggles
Here is a tip on how to get a child with autism to wear swimming goggles. I think it has applications way beyond the stereotypical Autistic child. I would prefer that this was worded like something like getting swimming goggles on a resistant child or something like that.
Swimming Goggles On |
I dislike the way the term Autism is used on the internet. It is a sweeping generalisation. There is a huge spectrum of children that are in this category and most of them do not fit the stereotype. However, the video was titled the way because it was intended to help swim teachers with a tip for children like the one in the video and the one in the video is, Autistic and resistant to putting on goggles.
It has to be said that, in my experience, most Autistic children are not resistant to putting on goggles and quite a few neurotypical children are. However, regardless of whether your swim students are on The Spectrum or not, this is worth trying on any that are resistant to putting on goggles.
Assuming of course you care about them wearing goggles. You may end up concude that if they don't want to wear them no big deal. At least in ht e short term.
Enjoy
