There are those whose information I trust when it comes to teaching children to swim. Laurie Lawrence is one of those, particularly when it comes to babies first swimming lesson.

Laurie has been teaching for so long now and his credentials are beyond question. When it comes to teaching children as far as I am concerned, he is the go-to reference.

Here are 4 videos with him introducing Evie to water at various stages.

Note there is no crying no stress and no fuss. Just a great all-round experience for everybody. This is the way it is supposed to be and don't let another trumped up, half backed, so-called expert, try to con you into anything else. A child's first experience of water should be wonderful.


I personally think that there should be a video before the shower video, showing a baby being introduced to the "ready go" command with the washing of babies face with a hand or a face washer first. I've never really been comfortable with the shocked look on babies face when they first get water poured over their heads. But in the end, as long as the baby is not upset by it.
