Games for Swimming Lessons. The Ubiquitous Ring a Ring a Rosie
As games for swimming lessons go "Ring a Ring Rosie...we all fall down" is ubiquitous. Everybody does it so I'm always looking for other ways to do it. I saw another swimming teacher do a new version the other day with toddlers.
It was just like the video below only with the parents in the water and you have one child and one adult alternately, in a circle. Walking in a circle singing "Ring a Ring a Rosie" the children are allowed to go under the water, according to their ability, on "we all fall down".
The second time around the children starts in a floating position. Everybody sings "the cows are in the Meadows... we all jump up". Of course, the children are all gently thrown into the air.
The whole process is then repeated.
It promotes floating confidence in going underwater, the children feel safe (mostly) with their parents doing it and it's a lot of fun!
Enjoy
Richard
